Once upon a time there was a retirement community who believed that life should be lived creatively…
To celebrate this they have created a flower show that connects to that place of pure imagination that lives in each of us. We invite you to take a whimsical tour of story telling throughout the generations. Enter the exhibit and remember the sweet sounds of a grandparent reading to a child. Each spoken word sparks greater imaginative thought as shared experience adds to the richness of the relationship.
It is the formula for vitality, expansion and yes, “Flowers, Fairy Tales and Fantasies.”
A group of residents, staff and friends of this community (The Flower Show
Gang) have worked together to create a collection of wonderful fairy tale scenes.
There is much to see as we have the perfect blend of gorgeous greenhouse grown flowers, classic story sets and good old fashioned ingenuity.
Repurposing is a main theme this year as it fits our budget and tests our cleverness! You will see a lot of our community's recycled refuse. You will see it in the form of flowers, children and large props made of all types of discarded items. We repurposed coffee containers, soda bottles, milk jugs, old shoes, bed sheets, clothing protectors and more. There is even an exhibit showing you how it was all accomplished!
Bask in the gorgeous greenhouse grown blooms featured in the all the fairy tale gardens—Meadowbrook Farms again donated an incredible plant palette.
Shop! It's a fun part of the show experience. Beyond our main exhibit there are the bargains, bake sales, crafters, handmade quilts, tastes, and seminars that have become a part of our 27-year tradition.
The antique and craft show is filled with plants, crafts and gifts for everyone. Make sure you take the shuttle over to our community center at the Maplewood Estates complex.
Special seminars have been set up each day with fascinating speakers and topics.
