Our 2011 Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Peter Becker Community is composed of nine members. According to the by-laws, Peter Becker Community shall be governed by a Board of Directors which shall consist of no fewer than eight (8) and no more than eleven (11) members in good standing of the organization. At least two (2) members must be from congregations within the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren. Each director may serve three, three-year terms and then must go off the board for a least one year before being reconsidered for re-election to the board. Below are short biographies of the current members of the board.

Donald Price, Esq., (Board Chairman - Class of 2013)

Donald R. Price is Professor Emeritus at Temple University School of Law where he taught for 23 years prior to retiring in 1999.  At Temple he was very active in restructuring the corporate and commercial law curriculum.  Additionally, he was honored with the title, “Outstanding Teacher” an unprecedented four times.  Prior to his teaching experience, he spent ten years as a practitioner and partner in a Doylestown general practice law firm following graduation from Elizabethtown College and Temple’s Law School.  In addition to having served on the PBC Board of Directors for about twenty years total and as the Chairman for two years, he also serves on the Community Home Services Board.  He currently resides in Doylestown and is a member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren.

bod_betty_lou_nyce_webBetty Lou Nyce, BS: (Secretary - Class of 2013)
Betty Lou Nyce is a graduate of Abington School of Nursing and Philadelphia University. Following sixteen years of employment in medical-surgical nursing, she developed and directed the Community Health Education program at the former North Penn Hospital, now Central Montgomery Medical Center, for eight years, then worked as a Patient Service and Cancer Detection Specialist for the American Cancer Society for fourteen years until retirement. She currently serves on the North Penn VNA Professional Advisory Committee and the Branch Board of Managers of the North Penn YMCA, and she is presently serving on her sixth three-year term of service on the Board of PBC and has served as Secretary on the board for a total of about ten years.  She lives in Lansdale and is an active member of Ambler Church of the Brethren.

kellyKelly H. Rose, MD: (Class of 2013)

Kelly Rose was elected to the board in 2007 for the class of 2010.  Kelly is a physician and shareholder in the TriValley Primary Care Franconia Office in Telford where she has practiced since 2003.  She is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.  She then graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College.  Kelly did her residency at Abington Memorial Hospital.  Kelly is certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Kelly is married and has 2 children and lives in Glenside, PA.

Cynthia Limbert serves as Division Manager of Clinical Nursing at Grand View Hospital where she has been employed in a variety of capacities since 1977.  She received her nursing diploma (R.N.) from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing and a B.S.N. from LaSalle University.  She is an active member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren.  She has served on the Board of Directors of PBC since 2003 and previously served as 2nd Vice Chairman.  She resides in Quakertown.
bod_stuart_suterStuart Suter, PhD, Esq.: (Immediate Past Chair - Class of 2011)

Prior to his retirement, Stuart R. Suter served as Vice President and Patent Counsel for SmithKline Beecham Corporation (now GlaxoSmithKline Corporation) of Philadelphia where he was employed for over 27 years.  He is an active member of Ambler Church of the Brethren and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Administration, a member of the Finance Committee, a member of the Personnel and Nominating Committee and as church Moderator. He also serves on the Community Home Services Board He received his B.A. from Bridgewater College, M.S. from the University of Michigan, Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Temple University.  He has served on the Board of Directors of PBC for twelve years total and previously as the Chairman for five years.  He resides in Ambler.

John L. Frankenfield is a native of Harleysville, a graduate of Christopher Dock High School and Goshen College.  John is the owner of Franconia Insurance & Financial Services, Telford, where his focus is group insurance programs, business and advanced life insurance.  Prior to entering the insurance business, John worked as Director of Alumni Relations and Community Relations at Goshen College and as Director of Development at Penn View Christian School.  He is a member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church where he has served as Chair of Church Council, Administrative Elder, choir member and Sunday school teacher.  He has served on the Board of Directors of PBC since 2004.  He was made Chair Elect in 2007.

bodtom_nolanThomas Nolan, DVM (Class of 2011):

Thomas E. Nolan is a partner of Instech-Solomon Scientific of Plymouth Meeting, PA, and San Antonio, TX, which markets biotechnology to the biomedical research industry.  Formerly, he served as Senior Veterinarian at Merck Sharp & Dohme Research Labs where he was employed for over 22 years.  He is a published author and member of numerous professional societies.  He received his B.S. and D.V.M. from Cornell University.  As a long-time, active member of Salford Mennonite Church, he has served on numerous committees, including Long Range Planning, Child Care and Church Council.  Additional church-related activities include publishing the Mennonite Historians of Eastern PA’s newsletter, membership on the Parent’s Council of Goshen College and serving as systems manager for Salford Mennonite, Franconia Mennonite Conference and The Meetinghouse.  He has served as a Director of PBC since July 1998 and as 1st Vice Chairman for two years.  He resides in Harleysville.

Deb Takes was appointed to the board in 2010.  Deb is currently Chairman and CEO of First Priority Bank, headquartered in Malvern, PA.  Prior to First Priority, she served as President and CEO of Harleysville National Bank where she served 38 years.  Deb serves on the boards of the North Penn United Way, the Montgomery County Lands Trust, the North Penn Valley Boys and Girls club, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, Insured Financial Institutions, Cabrini College and the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers.  A founding board member for the Foundation for the North Penn United Way, she has chaired the Annual Antiques Show for their benefit for the past 14 years.  Deb also co-authored a novel for young girls 8 – 12 years of age entitled “Time Will Tell”.  She holds a BS in Economics from Vassar College and a Masters of Science in Management from Rosemont College.  Deb resides in Harleysville.

jim_hershey1James L. Hershey (Class of 2012):

Jim Hershey was appointed to the board in 2011.  He is a part owner in Hershey Farm Agency, Inc. Realtor.  He is also a part owner in Hershey Property Management, LLC.  In addition is a commercial airline pilot and flies with US Airways.  Jim currently chairs the Salford Mennonite Child Care Committee. Jim is a graduate of Christopher Dock Mennonite High School and Hesston College with a degree in aviation.  He lives with his wife and two children in Harleysville.
