book Commemorative Book Sale

Former CEO Ronn Moyer, authored a book called “I Want to Go Home” – A Pictorial, Anecdotal Story of the Peter Becker Community from Idea in 1960 to a Home for 500 Residents in 2007. The book is being sold for $15. The proceeds will directly benefit those at Peter Becker Community who can no longer afford to pay for their care.

For the last 45 years, Ronn Moyer has collected the origination stories, history and anecdotes of the community he once served~ a continuing care retirement community that has met the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of seniors since opening in 1971.

Now a resident, Moyer has used some of his retirement time to record not only the history of the community, but also some of the stories that he remembers most vividly. As the first administrator, Moyer was there as the idea of the community was being considered, the first funds were raised, the first parcel of land was purchased, the first foundations poured and the first residents provided a home.

In his book, there is recognition of the persons who were responsible for the ministry’s beginnings; accurate historical accounts of the growth of the community and a wonderful weave of the personal stories, the laughter, the trails and the heartache.

The book also highlights the talents of local artist, Leon Moyer, who provided illustrations for many of the anecdotal stories. His illustrations provide both charm and humor to the stories.

This as a great value at $15 and proceeds benefit the benevolent fund.
