Events

We are very appreciative of the greater community that surrounds and supports us. Special Events at Peter Becker are designed to enrich the lives of the residents as well as connect with local businesses, schools and families. We hope that you will join us at the events we host throughout the year.

Enriching Lives

RECENT EVENT!
Quilters Thank Residents Who Served Our Country!

Recently, the Peter Becker Community’s Quilt Club and quilters thanked veterans and alternative service participants who live at Peter Becker Community and who served our country during the World War II and Korean War eras.

Each resident was asked to sign a quilt square crafted by a quilter who personalized each square with the individual’s service information. These squares were then assembled into a beautiful quilt that will be a lasting tribute to the men and women who served. The quilt was presented in a special ceremony at Peter Becker Community on Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Orchid Terrace Room.

Forty-seven of our residents are represented on the quilt. They served in the Army, Army Air Corps and Army Air Force, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or participated in alternative service.  Geographically, their tours of duty were in Korea, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, France, England, Germany, China, West Africa, and throughout the United States and the District of Columbia.  Some served on submarines, battleships, B-17 bombers, rescue ships, tankers, and destroyers. Some worked in motor pools, hospitals, communications, transport, maintenance, as flight instructors, combat engineers, MPs, and more. Some received special honors such as the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Peter Becker Community appreciates each and

every one of these residents for their service.
