January 4, 2021 Update

Jan 4, 2021

Skilled nursing residents and staff of Peter Becker Community received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday, January 3, 2021. The second shot will be administered in approximately 3 weeks. The 95% efficacy of this vaccine makes us all very excited to move forward in implementation of the vaccines.

Helen Schlegel, the first resident of Peter Becker to receive the vaccine, said that “It’s an opportunity to see family and friends and to have a normal life again.”  Helen’s daughter, Nancy Fitch, commented that she is glad her mother decided to get it (the vaccine).  While Nancy and Helen communicate frequently, they look forward to visiting in person again soon.

Tracey Shearer, a 36-year team member of Peter Becker Community, was the first employee to receive the vaccine. Tracey is part of a team that has worked through the pandemic, with the residents within our skilled nursing neighborhood.

Representative Steven R. Malagari from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives was also in attendance.
