A History of Service
In the early 1960s, a group of dedicated community members embarked on a mission to create a rest home – as it was called then – that celebrated the service philosophy and values of their denomination, the Church of the Brethren. Their goal was to create a community that would not only care for but would enhance the health and vitality of area seniors. After over a decade of tireless dedication to their cause, in 1971, Peter Becker Community was born.
Since then, the community has grown from a small 37-bed “rest home” to a thriving Continuing Care Retirement community on a beautiful 100-acre campus. It’s a community that provides seniors with a variety of engaging lifestyle options that can address nearly every need. It’s a community that combines health and wellness with fun, friendship and high-quality care. It’s a community that provides our area seniors and their families with real peace of mind.
Peter Becker Community is a not-for-profit community.
Our mission, based on the Church of the Brethren values of service, integrity, simplicity and love, is to meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of all members of the Peter Becker Community.
Our vision is to create a “best place to live” environment for our residents and a “best place to work” environment for our team. In addition, we strive to meet or exceed quality standards, operate in an environmentally responsible manner, actively participate in the local community, and be viewed as a community leader on issues affecting aging adults while leveraging technology, continuously advancing our knowledge base, and being financially self-sufficient.
At Peter Becker Community, the close relationships between our residents and team members enhance daily life. This is the hallmark of our lifestyle – and our culture.
In a place where the team works each day to care for our spaces and serve our residents, human interaction happens naturally. We take this interaction very seriously. Ask a resident and you’ll hear stories of extraordinary closeness and kindness. Ask a team member and you’ll be reminded of the personal fulfillment found in respectfully serving our residents’ needs and how having an open mind encourages everyone to grow. This genuine, person-centered philosophy is brought to life each day at Peter Becker Community.
But it truly is the people at Peter Becker Community – and their passion – that sets us apart and defines who we are. We are a warm, welcoming community that genuinely cares for and about one another.
