Giving

You Can Make a Difference.

Peter Becker Community is a community of people, serving people. With this purpose, we depend on the support of friends to help us live our mission daily. There are many ways for individuals, corporations and foundations to help us make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Ways to Give

Our residents have lived through wars and military conflicts (many of them serving in our armed forces), and experienced changes in transportation, communication, energy options, technology and American culture.  Whether they are in our Residential Living homes, Personal Care or in our Health Care Center, they deserve our respect and security during this stage of their lives. There are various ways that you can provide vital services and peace of mind to these very special people.

Giving Options

Restricted Giving

These gifts are restricted to a specific program, fund or capital item. Choices might include a gift to the Benevolent Fund Campaign, dollars to help purchase a new wheelchair van or funds to buy new table linens for the dining room.

Unrestricted Giving

Unrestricted giving helps to enhance the overall operations of our community. Your gifts will be used to help us provide the highest quality of life possible for those we serve. Your unrestricted gift allows us to use the funds where they are most needed.

Annual Campaign

The Annual Campaign receives contributions throughout the year with a special focus during the traditional year-end charitable contribution time frame of November and December.  Donors may designate a specific fund for their gift or make their donation unrestricted.

Benevolent Fund Campaign

Donors may also contribute to the Benevolent Fund Campaign throughout the year, but significant special activities and a major dinner and entertainment take place in either May or June.  The Benevolent Fund Campaign supports residents who, through no fault of their own, have expended their financial resources and are no longer able to fully provide for their daily needs.

Gifts-in-Kind

Peter Becker Community accepts gifts-in-kind that meet the needs of our community and fall within our gift acceptance policy.

Memorial Gifts

One way to honor a loved one, whether he or she lived at Peter Becker Community or not, is to make a memorial gift in his or her name. These gifts include cash donations in the name of the person being honored, specified capital improvements and memorial bricks. All memorial gifts are acknowledged to the family of the one memorialized.

Matching gifts

A way to expand the benefits of your own giving.  We urge you to check with your employer as many organizations offer to double or even triple your personal gift.  Some employers offer this benefit to retirees.

Corporate Sponsorship

There are many opportunities for corporations to sponsor activities at Peter Becker Community. Our most notable annual events are the Flower Show, Benevolent Fund Dinner and Golf Outing. By partnering with us, your company will not only gain critical exposure to hundreds or thousands of local community members and positively strengthen your public perception but will also make a true difference in the lives of elderly adults.

Planned Giving

Planned giving can help you meet your own financial goals while also helping Peter Becker Community. Many people like making a planned gift because it is a way to give philanthropically while not necessarily using up large amounts of cash or impacting personal assets during their lifetime. Donors should contact their financial advisor prior to making a planned gift.

Planned Giving Options

Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity is a contract under which Peter Becker Community, in return for a transfer of cash, securities or property, provides an annual payment to one or two named beneficiaries for their lifetime. The remaining balance passes to Peter Becker Community when the contract ends. Donors are guaranteed fixed income for life, regardless of fluctuations in the market, and often receive substantial tax benefits.

Bequests

Peter Becker Community may be named as a beneficiary in a will. The bequest stipulates that a specific monetary amount, designated percentage of the total estate or designated percentage of the remaining estate be donated.

Life Insurance Policy

Peter Becker Community may be named as owner and/or beneficiary of a fully paid policy.

Stocks

Peter Becker Community can accept most gifts of stocks. In many cases, the stocks will be liquidated by Peter Becker Community. The donor is typically able to take a charitable gift tax deduction and/or avoid capital gains tax.

Real Estate

Peter Becker Community can accept gifts of real estate. All potential liabilities of a transaction will be considered (appraisal, encumbrances, zoning, environmental concerns, etc.) prior to acceptance. If the property is fully gifted, the donor receives all appropriate tax benefits.

Other

Peter Becker Community does accept other types of planned gifts.  Please contact us with any proposal under consideration.
