Caring for Our Residents: The Benevolent Fund at Peter Becker Community

Nov 30, 2023

Residents with all types of careers, backgrounds, and unique life stories create the vibrant senior living community that makes Peter Becker Community a dynamic and engaging place that so many are proud to call home.

To further that sense of community, creating opportunities for giving and support is a pillar of Peter Becker Community. While there are different types of campaigns and ways for you to help support the residents and the community, the Benevolent Fund Campaign truly stands to care for our residents.

Jeff Miles, the Director of Mission Support at Peter Becker Community said, “Over the last six years that I have been at Peter Becker Community, we have seen the yearly donations to the Benevolent Fund Campaign double to the height of $420,000 in the fiscal year of 2022–23. This is a testament to the love and care that our residents have for their fellow community members and the dedication of our extended PBC family of supporters.”

The Benevolent Fund Campaign at Peter Becker Community

Of the many campaigns and gifts donors can support at Peter Becker Community, the Benevolent Fund Campaign stands for a unique purpose. The Benevolent Fund Campaign serves as a financial safety net to provide aid to residents who, through no fault of their own, can no longer provide the financial support for their daily living needs at the community.

“Caring and helping others has been at the heart of Peter Becker Community since its founding over 52 years ago. The Benevolent Fund is an offspring of this desire to help our residents live safe and secure lives. There are many factors, especially medical expenses, that can arise and impact one’s personal resources. Out of a desire to help the residents of Peter Becker Community the Benevolent Fund Campaign was created to assist those who have outlived their personal resources and aid their needs. Through the generosity of their fellow residents, friends of Peter Becker Community, and team, the Benevolent Fund Campaign is able to assist in supporting these beloved PBC family members aiding in their care and security,” said Jeff.

This fund provides great peace of mind to the residents at Peter Becker Community. They know that if something should happen, the fund is here to support them and allow them to continue living in a community where they can enjoy the robust amenities and services, access the continuum of care to meet their health needs, and take advantage of all the social opportunities to meet with friends old and new.

Jeff said, “Residents have wisely managed their funds throughout their lives. They have saved and gone without to ensure that they will have the resources needed for their retirement years. Due to unforeseen medical expenses and the longevity of life, they may outlive a portion of the resources they need to receive the care they need to live a healthy life.

The Benevolent Fund Campaign accepts donations year-round, with specific fundraising events held throughout the year. With the holiday season approaching, it’s that special time of year where we are encouraged to think about the welfare of others and how we can help support others in our community. If you’d like to help provide support and peace of mind to the residents at Peter Becker Community through the Benevolent Fund Campaign, you can make a donation here.

“Over the last several years, we have seen great growth in the support of the Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund Campaign. We have seen a rise in the number of donors to this fund, and a growth in the percentage of residents participating in helping to care for their fellow residents in need of the Benevolent Fund Campaign. I have been overwhelmed by the care and support that residents have for each other, and there is no greater example of the true heart of the family members of Peter Becker Community than their outpouring of support and dedication to the growth of the Benevolent Fund Campaign,” Jeff said.
